Now Hiring - Female Full-Time, Day-Flex and Part-Time Teaching Parents

JOB TITLE: Teaching Parent


MD Salem Children’s Trust, is seeking female applicants to work in our residential group home setting. The Teaching Parent assumes leadership and primary responsibility for the care and safety of up to eight children in residential care.
A typical day includes school during the week or a day program during the summer months. Weekend activities include church and recreation. Evening shifts in the houses generally follow the activities: quiet time, homework assistance, meal preparation, family dinner time, chore supervision, evening activities, and bedtime routines.
Weekend activities include: church services, YMCA trips, seasonal sports, hiking, other indoor and outdoor activities.
Day-Flex responsibilities include: Driving to Appointments, Cleaning and organizing the residential home, Staying home with children when there is no school or they are sick, etc.

Teaching Parent Schedules

Full-Time with Benefits: (7 Days On/ 7 Days Off) Wed-Fri 3-11PM, Sat-Sun 7AM-11PM, Mon-Tues. 3-11PM, Weekly Team Meetings each Wednesday
Some full-time positions will require 7 nights of overnight stay once per month.
Benefits – include annual leave, sick leave and paid holidays.

Day Flex Full-Time with Benefits: (5 Days a week) Mon-Fri 7 AM -3 PM, Weekly Team Meetings each Friday
Benefits – include annual leave, sick leave and paid holidays.

Part-Time are also available. - Hours vary. Part-time positions may offer an average of 26 – 34 hours a week. Shifts may include evenings and weekends, plus attending special training and staff retreats. Schedules are prepared a month at a time.

Training Includes:

2 days of orientation
2 weeks of program training
All direct care employees will be required to pass RCYCP certification within 90 days of employment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Must have a high school diploma and other evidence of responsible and dependable work habits.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:


Incumbent must:
1. Be at least 21 years of age.
2. Must have a high school diploma.
3. Valid drivers liscense and a driving record showing no dangerous and/or unsafe driving.
4. Must pass a criminal background investigation, child protective service investigation, a pre-employment drug/alcohol test, a physical, and a TB test.


Now Hiring – Part - Time School Social Worker

JOB TITLE: School Social Worker


MD Salem Children’s Trust is seeking a Part-time Social Worker to provide services for youth in our Salem School. The School Social Worker provides formal therapy and clinical consultation for students of Salem School.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


Must have a Master’s degree in social work and be licensed by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners. Must have at least one year experience with children’s programs. Must keep abreast of new developments in the childcare profession, sharing with peers, attending seminars and conferences and reading pertinent publications.



QUALIFICATIONS:


Incumbent must:
1. Understand and be in empathy with the Salem philosophy.
2. Understand and have expertise in the use of Scripture in counseling.
3. Be able to represent Salem at meetings and hearings.
4. Be able to respond calmly and with good judgment in an emergency.
5. Be able to work as a member of a team.
6. Be dependable and punctual.
7. Be at least 21 years of age.
8. Have a valid driver’s license and a driving record showing no dangerous and/or unsafe driving.

HOURS OF WORK:


School Days (180 days total) 10am – 3pm, Attend Staff Development Training (5 days Annual), Summer Program (16 hours per week).



Job Description: SUMMER PROGRAM ASSISTANT

JOB TITLE: Summer Program Assistant


MD Salem Children’s Trust is seeking a Part-time Summer Program Assistant to work with youth in our Summer Program.

 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:


1. Assist other staff to manage activities for Summer Program.
2. Sett expectations for the behavior of Summer Program participants.
3. Accompany students to and from their activities.
4. Maintain a positive and structured environment within each group.
5. Foster the development of responsibility, self-esteem and interpersonal skills.
6. Understand and appropriately use effective praise, preventive teaching, corrective teaching and intensive teaching to teach basic social skills and to maintain low tolerance levels for the students’ inappropriate behavior.
7. Discipline the students as needed according to administratively determined policies.
8. Maintain a safe environment for the group, attending to the safety issues at all times.
9. Participate in the planning and evaluation of the summer program.
10. Attend the summer orientation and training programs and summer staff meetings.
11. Support the Salem philosophy and concepts in all activities and discussions with the children and co-workers.
12. Share the responsibility of assisting with transportation of Day Students before and after the summer program.
13. Other duties as assigned by the Lead Resource Counselor and Education Director.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


Must have a high school diploma; college and bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum of one year of experience in teaching or recreation preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:


Incumbent must:
1. Be at least 21 years of age.
2. Enjoy working with youth.
3. Be patient and have a positive attitude.
4. Be able to provide structure.
5. Be reliable and organized, dependable and punctual.
6. Have the ability to respond calmly and with good judgment in an emergency.
7. Be mature enough to comfortably assume control of a group.

HOURS OF WORK:


Twenty hours per week during the 30 day Summer Program, Monday through Friday 9am – 1pm. Also includes assisting with youth transportation before and/or after the Summer Program.
